Scholarships are a possibility to receive financial support for your studies. The criteria (e.g. social or academic achievements) for receiving such a scholarship differ and depend on the particular scholarship. Scholarships are
usually assigned for the duration of one semester, but can also be valid for the entire studies and don’t have to be paid back. Usually it is not possible to receive more than one scholarship at once.
The Studentenwerk Hanover assigns scholarships for the semester contributions to beginners, amounting to the particular semester contribution of the faculty. Refugees can get this scholarship with a special application.
The scholarship has to be requested before you enroll and pay for the semester, e.g. on the social consultancy office of the Studentenwerk Hanover. The application requires you to bring a copy of the verification for financial support according to the law for asylum seekers that receive financial aid. Information about the exact criteria and terms of reference are here.
The social consultancy office of the Studentenwerk Hanover helps students and those who are interested in studying with problems and gives information and tips about study-related topics like financing your studies, health insurance, problems of foreign students and other social topics.
